2013 - present

In 2013 Teun started Salmonick Atelier to developed a new way of using digital particles.

A particle is a small localized object to which can be ascribed several physical properties such as wind and gravity. With these properties and several others, he can control millions of points in 3d space. Using physics and algorithms, he tries to create digital art with a natural feeling.

At present, the technique is leading the style. Mainly, this technique is used to visualize the four natural elements water, earth, fire and air. Teun is improving the technique so that he can fully focus on the style.

His sources of inspiration are German films from the 20’s, paintings by Jackson Pollock and new computer technologies. Through 3d particles he feels free to go any direction.

2011 - 2012

During this period Teun collaborated with Jan Thijssen for the  documentary Memoirs of a Scatterbrain. In this documentary he created and  designed 3d animations developed from work of Rene Daniels. He also further developed the concept 'City of Lights' with Daan Verbiest. Earlier in 2012, he has put together an exhibition in the town hall of Goirle. New and old work were shown for the public.

2009 - 2010

After his graduation Teun began developing his own style. This style he began using in several short films and commercial projects. In this time, he also founded his own company. The film Tears / De Breuklijn was shown at various mediator and lawyer conferences. Through these conferences, he made many contacts to distribute his film.

The last project at the HKU was 'Tears / De Breuklijn'. During this project he worked on developing his own film from concept to writing. He also produced and directed the film. It has become symbolic-surrealistic short film that has been inspired by the fact that nowadays parents separate more often and with less consideration. The film tells the story of a little boy who is suffering from the upcoming divorce of his parents. An important role plays the mix of live action and animation. The actors were filmed in a blue-screen studio and then placed in an artificial world. Several old and new techniques of film come together.

This film won the Audience Award at the film festival MoliseCinema in Italy. In addition, the film was screened at more than 25 film festivals all over the world.

In the third year Teun was commissioned by the production company Inqubative to create content for projection screens in Rotterdam metro stations. This content should have a positive impact on the traveling public. To convey emotion in a good way, he chose to create an atmospheric film; focuses on the subject 'Light'. Together with Daan Verbiest a visual style was developed taking only luminous objects. The best way to visualize this was through 3D animation. By keeping the film abstract, they were able to create a fully-animated city. Alexander Reumers made the music that was inspired by the music of Sigur Rós. The result was a creative, experimental film called 'City of Lights'.

The film was selected for the Dutch Film Festival in 2007, Annecy Animation Festival 2008, Wiesbaden International Weekend of Animation 2008, Brest European Short Film Festival 2008 and the Holland Animation Film Festival 2008.

2000 - 2006

During the first years at the MBO Koning Willem 1 college in 's-Hertogenbosch department Fotonica, the techniques of photography and film were studied. Various projects were to be implemented including photography, film and animation.

After his internship at the art business 'MAD emergent art center', he wanted to develop his experiments at a new school. He choose the Utrecht School of the Arts in Hilversum. In the first year of the study the teachers gave him all the freedom to make his own work.

At the end of the second year he began to develop his own style. During that year his grandfather died. This event had a profound effect on his work. Hereafter he made a short film with a clear message. It was the film 'Over', a pamphlet on an important subject in society. This film was selected for HAFF Holland Animation Festival and was one of the three best films of the Dutch Online Film Festival.

This symbolic-surrealistic short film has been inspired by the fact that nowadays parents separate more often and with less consideration. The film tells the story of a little boy who is suffering from the upcoming divorce of his parents.
